Student Benefits
Living in the InterVarsity House has numerous benefits for college students.
Close:
The house is located very close to the U of M.
Cost:
Relatively inexpensive compared to Dorm prices.
Community:
Community is Christian in practice in that it offers house Bible studies, a house meal each week, and safe Christian community.
Christian House Director:
Unlike other houses on campus, we are offering a live-in House Director that will care for interpersonal relationships, enforce rules, and maintain an atmosphere of respect and acceptance in the home.
House Rules
The following are the InterVarsity House Rules which are part of our Lease and Covenant. Violation of these rules is considered a breach of the Covenant.
Dry House:
Our house is free from alcohol and tobacco.
Weekly Meals:
Students living in the house eat one meal as a house together each week.
House Studies:
Students are required to attend and be involved in the House Bible Study.
Gender Appropriate:
Men and Women do live together in this coed house but do not share private rooms. There is only one common space that is coed and this is the first floor common area. Bathrooms, and bedrooms are not shared with those of the opposite sex. The house is also easily divided into 2-3 segments making it possible to separate non-community spaces.
Housing Costs
These are the costs and inclusions.
Room Rental:
Students live in same gender pairs in the house. The rooms in the InterVarsity House are large; therefore some rooms can fit a third person, but most students will live in same gender pairs. If a student wants their own space they will have to pay for two rental spots.
Utilities:
All utilities are included. This includes heating, natural gas, garbage, water, wireless internet, & basic cable (in the community space). These features make our rent package attractive and unusual in the U of M housing market.
Space:
There are 4 full bathrooms and two full kitchens. Plenty of room for students to have a space of their own. There are also three additional “community spaces,” one on the third floor, one on the second floor and one in the basement. The house also has one large dining area, and one large community gathering space on the first floor.
$400/month - Individual Student/Shared Room
$800/month - Individual Student/Non-sharing Room
